Rushing Along

This scenic oil painting of a Colorado river gives the viewer a glimpse into the mountain and densely forested region around of Steamboat Springs. Enjoy the ride as you visually drift past. It is 16″ x 20″ on canvas, framed in a simple walnut and gold trimmed floater frame.

I painted my first version of this scene in June, 2022, and it was one of my first attempts at painting Au Plein Air (out doors), and to my chagrin, it was not a happy process. Just as I was getting into the middle stages of this painting, a couple heavy gusts of wind whipped through our painting site, knocking my easel over, and of course, my painting dive-bombed face down onto the sand and river stones. I didn’t have much time to gather my supplies, my ruined painting and the broken easel before a Colorado thunder cloud burst over us pouring buckets of water on us as we ran for shelter. I’m so grateful I had taken lots of photos. I finished this painting in my studio about six months later.

Ancient Forest

This view of an ancient forest may conjure up images of shadowy trails, blinking eyes of unidentified creatures peeking out and possibly a white stag grazing somewhere in its depth. You will see something new each time you view it.

A Bison and A Birdie

This stylized Bison, painted in oils, is grazing in a field of wild flowers, giving the viewer a peaceful and happy feeling. When I posted it on my Social Media, I asked, “What do you like most about this bison?” I got a flood of amazing answers–but a few stuck with me. “His eye!” “He looks so friendly!” Others commented on the little birdie sitting on his back–reminding them that we, like that lone bison in the field, are never truly alone. I painted this portrait in summer hues; highlighting the crystal blue Colorado sky, so common in our Summer months, with distant view of the mountains behind. I’d love to know, What do you like most about this lone bison?

At the Cross
