This stylized Bison, painted in oils, is grazing in a field of wildflowers, giving the viewer a peaceful and happy feeling. When I posted it on my Social Media, I asked, “What do you like most about this bison?” I got a flood of amazing answers—but a few stuck with me. “His eye!” “He looks so friendly!” Others commented on the little birdie sitting on his back—reminding them that we, like that lone bison in the field, are never truly alone. I painted this portrait in summer hues; highlighting the crystal blue Colorado sky, so common in our summer months, with a distant view of the mountains behind. I’d love to know, what do you like most about this lone bison?

Linda Bridges is a writer, artist, and children’s book illustrator. She first learned to paint using oils, and says she painted a few fine paintings in the 80s & 90s, and even sold a few, but she put all that behind her when she and her husband moved to SE Asia in 2004–2010.
After retiring, at aged 63, Linda picked up her watercolors again in 2014 and began combining her art and writing, illustrating two children’s books. In 2017 she began painting more seriously in soft pastels, oils, and acrylics—learning some nuances of each medium.
Giclee and high-digital prints are available of many of her paintings, and a variety of cards prints. Artist originals are available for sale on Linda’s Website Gallery, her Etsy Shop (http://etsy.com/shop/LindaKBridges)
Linda declares she’s a self-motivated learner and is still catching up on all the new techniques and products that came out while she was overseas. She has her works on display at Katie’s 5280 Pure Hair Salon (2121 N Weber, in Old North End), and at Academy Art and Frames Gallery, (7560 N Academy, 80920)
